If you don't know the book, I'll basically explain it's background.

the Higher Institute of Villainous Education, more commonly known as HIVE, is where the future career criminal's are trained. Almost all graduate's move on to the Global league Of Villainous Enterprises, or Glove, as operatives. The students are picked from the best of the worst. They either earn their way in through deed, get sponsored in by a GLOVE operative, or are sent in because of family heritage. No one who leaves the school becomes a common thug or Mafia boss. They become world leaders, bank runners, country-wide black mailers, and other things of the sort. The teachers include Professor Pike for Technology and Science, The Contessa in Political Ambitions, Dr. Nero, who is also the head of the school, teaches Elementary Evil, Ms. Lyon, a woman trapped in a cats body, heads Stealth And Evasion, and Mr. Francisco is the Procter of the "Gym" class. Their are four types of students: Henchman are people who are training to be the muscle for real leaders, who wear blue. Economics/Politics are the future corrupt business men and women who happen to rule countries, who wear gray. Scientists are the new generation of madmen and technicians, who wear white. Finally, their is the Alpha stream. This group are a well rounded group who excel in more than one area of classes.

You are a new, first year student. You may join any of the four streams.

Oh, and, you cannot leave the school. You were abducted from your regular life and secretly transported to the school.

The information center of the school is HIVEmind, a computer that is transmitted to a Blackbox on your person. The blackbox contains class schedules, HIVEmind feed, etc. It contains all the information you need on HIVE.
